Anthony Reed is the first African American to compete in marathons on all seven continents, including Antarctica. He also completed 131 marathons in 50 states, and won trophies in various age groups and weight divisions. Reed is also on the Dallas (formerly White Rock) Marathon board of directors.
Anthony Reed, CPA PMP is a very unique individual with very unusual experiences as an executive and athlete. He has over thirty years in management and executive positions where he managed multi-million dollar budgets and international project teams. He was a trailblazer for African-American information technology (IT) professionals. In many organizations, he was either the first Black IT professional and/or the highest ranking Black in the IT department, if not in the entire corporation or governmental entity. He served on the board of directors for several IT organizations.
At the same time, this certified distance running coach has completed over one hundred, thirty 26.2-mile marathons. He’s the first Black in the world to finish marathons on all of the continents, including Antarctica. He is one of fifty people worldwide, who completed the marathon “hat trick.” This consists of finishing (1) at least 100 marathons, (2) a marathon on all seven continents, and (3) a marathon in each of the fifty States. He was inducted into the National Black Distance Running Hall of Fame in 2017. He served on the board of directors for various running organizations.
